These new pieces were inspired by the exhibition, 40 Years of Fooling Around with A. Banana, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria on until January 03, 2016. Link here to see photos of the opening night.
Two miniatures will be available for sale at the Massey Gallery (Art Gallery of Greater Victoria) Christmas Small Works Show and Sale, November 26 – January 4, 2016. The third painting (18 x 24 inches) will be available at Winchester Galleries Winter Exhibition. Watch this space for more information.
Content for the paintings came from one of the three regifted items I received at concurrent exhibition over at Open Space. The Original Top Banana Glasses soon appeared in selfies at my Instagram feed, and eventually became source material for these three painting above.
The exhibition was curated by Michelle Jacques and Helen Marzolf (Director, Open Space Art Society) | Ker, Centennial and LAB Galleries | Organized by the AGGV in collaboration with the Open Space Art Society
Mail Art Workshop
I signed up to join Mail Art pioneer Anna Banana for a hands on workshop. Each participant was able to choose unopened mail from the network sent in specifically for the exhibition, and craft a reply on a 9.5 x 4.25 inch insert and envelope provided. Also provided; glue sticks, pens, stickers, stamps, and more. We had about an hour and a half to complete our Mail Art.
